Charitable Giving Program

Active Cares Charitable Giving Program

Since it was established, Active Cares has supported over 600 nonprofits that we feel are most in line with our core values. Our goal is to support initiatives that have lasting value, with a priority given to basic living needs, health & wellness, education, veterans, youth programs, and sustainability issues.

In 2020, our attention turned towards Covid-19 relief efforts in support of our healthcare workers and first responders with major funds going to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF), and the Multiple Sclerosis Association of America (MSAA).

Going forward, Active looks to continue our role as a responsible local and global corporate citizen, by partnering with organizations that are committed to helping people live more healthy, balanced, and enriched lives. Below is a sampling of some of the organizations we’ve worked with over the years. For more information about Active Cares please contact us.

Farms For City Kids

Located on a 1,000-acre farm in Reading Vermont, Farms For City Kids provides a stimulating outdoor classroom experience for urban youth to discover new dimensions of learning by combining classroom studies with firsthand farming experience. Over the past several years, donations from Active Cares have allowed hundreds of kids to partake in this free and unique learning experience that allows for a more practical and applied understanding of how vital academics are to everyday life.

People to People

People to People is Rockland County’s largest food pantry working to help Rockland-area families, seniors and veterans, through difficult times. Active Cares and our employees have donated thousands of dollars and all types of goods, from food, to toys, to clothing, to join this organization in their efforts to help struggling Rocklanders meet their basic needs—whereby making our neighborhood a better place for all members of the community.

Young Audiences New York

From music to media arts and storytelling, to sound engineering, Young Audiences has worked to inspire young people to expand their learning through the arts since 1952. As the nation’s leading provider of arts in education programs and services, with the help of generous contributions from Active Cares Young Audiences has been able to advance their mission to promote quality and equity in arts-integrated education for all students.

H&M Foundation

From around the corner to around the globe, Active Cares has partnered with CARE and the H&M Foundation to provide 100,000 women from poor communities in 11 countries with the necessary skills and tools they need to become successful entrepreneurs. The three-year program which was renewed in 2020, reveals the enormous potential for women from marginalized communities to tap into their own inner strength, and take charge to change their future for generations to come—when provided with access to the right tools.

JDRF

With the help of generous donor contributions from Active Cares, JDRF works to advance research and policy advocacy that accelerates access to new therapies, and provides a support network for millions of people around the world impacted by Type 1 Diabetes. Founded by parents determined to find a cure for their children with T1D, JDRF has funded billions in research to date, and has made significant progress in understanding and fighting the disease.

MSAA

MSAA is a leading resource for the entire MS community, improving lives today through vital resources with financial support from donors like Active Cares. MSAA’s free services help improve lives—programs include a Helpline with trained specialists, educational programs held across the country, safety and mobility equipment distribution, and a Lending Library among other vital services.

Active International Cardiovascular Institute

Opened in 2006, The Active International Cardiovascular Institute at Good Samaritan Hospital works to save lives and enhance the quality of healthcare in the community by enabling Rockland County-area residents to have close, immediate access to the finest in cardiovascular care, right in their own backyards. Active began a campaign in 2006 to raise $2.5 million and continues today to support the mission of the institution.
